Globe (Bark) outfitting book, 1865.

Outfitting book for the Globe's 1865 whaling voyage. This pocket-size book was printed by Taber, Gordon & Co., ship chandlers and grocers located in New Bedford, Mass. It served as a checklist for the items that would be needed on a voyage. The master or agent of the Globe noted in pencil the items required and additional notes are found later in the volume. Over 900 items are listed and are grouped by type. A few examples are: provisions and stores, medical, miscellaneous, cordage, nautical stationery, chains and anchors, hardware, &c., tin ware, sails, duck, &c.
